What, i think you should calm down slightly, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you should respect that, i think this subject has reached a stand still. This argument could carry on for a long time with no definitive end, so there's no point trying to keep it going just for arguments sake.

Please explain how I am not calm?

I'd like to know what is going on now. I am also entitled to my opinion and have not said anything to prevent anyone from having their say. u on the other hand are having a problem with me having my say, obviusly. not trying to keep it going, just want to see some decent footage, just like every one else. or just admit it was a bad fake. who's knows. :bitching:  :anger: :roflol: :arghhh:  :skull:

I agree completely with your views, yeah we do need some better footage and fair enough the current \"evidence\" is pretty bad.
I think calm down wasn't quite what i ment, i just thought that some of your comments were abit agressive in their tone and could be taken as rude, for instance \"What a load of bull\" was in my opinion, not the most polite way to start a comment. Also \"where is a real video, with proper footage Not that crap u had\" seems again, rude.
I don't know you personaly and i realise that you have an opinion and yes, you are entitled to it, but have courtesy. I'm sure you didn't intend to be rude, and i hope you can understand my view point.
All the best.

I understand your viewpoint. I am a bit rude, yes. Agressive, i dont think so. Dont judge me mate. have a good day. over & out

What is suspicious here, is not the kayaker himself, nor even the record which he claims, but validity of the footage which is given as a proof, for the reasons which were given higher.

Simply for me, this footage does not prove that Felix Lämmler did run this waterfall.

I guess I am stirring up an old topic, but I am new to the forum, so you have to forgive me.

I would never discount another paddler, as everyone that posts here is probably better than me. I am new to the sport, and am in the initial learning phase. I would be thrilled to learn that someone has gone over Angel Falls and survived with no injuries. I am in awe watching the videos of more experienced kayakers, and hope to one day be able to inspire others like these videos do me.

There is no doubt that Felix is a solid paddler and deserves respect, but the second video is what bugs me most. He may very well have gone over the falls and broke the record. If it happened, he should be proud of this, but like many said before me, the footage is the problem. I do not care about the head position, the gloves, the paddle, etc. All of that could be explained, and the gloves are an easy explanation if you pay attention. What bothers me most is the landing. Exactly how bad would it hurt to land from a 34 meter drop nearly upside down?:skull:

well, it would hurt a lot. People break there backs off much smaller drops landing more vertically than he did. That par tof the video for me, is what is most suspect

i don't know if you guys know him, but my friend gharett meng ran a 35 meter waterfall in mexico last week. we don't have video yet, but the 16 mm footage should be finished within a week or so. gare bear is probably the most core kayaker i have ever met, way better than corran. who are these witnesses that saw corran.

That is one of the most arrogant, disrespectful, rude and stupid posts I have ever read and was completely unnecessary. Someone asked a sensible question in order to learn and inform their opinion. That is exactly what forums are for.

In answer to the question, I think it would hurt a LOT. The pool didn't look very aerated and he seemed to be going in sat upright rather than tucked forward to absorb the impact and minimise the area trying to break the surface.

Bleh, do not worry about him, Chud. Apparently he is just trying to stir the pot to get attention, so just ignore him. I guess that only experts like Freddy are the only ones allowed to post in these forums. The rude behavior must just come from 20 years of being the best in the sport. I do wish that he would not claim the United States though. It is behavior like this that makes us all look bad.

actually i am just joking...i am sorry if i offended anyone and i think that if felix ran a 34 meter waterfall more power to him, also it is awesome to see people getting into the sport and asking questions about the impact on big drops. i actually know someone who did a physics project on the impact of large waterfalls. looks like gharett meng will be able to run at least a 186 fter. once again sorry if i offended anyone, i just thought the whole argument had gotten so overdrawn that i had to stir things up a bit to let people actually see how ridiculous they are. i mean come on, insulting people via playak. are we thirteen years old?
