Greetings! I'm in the process of buying myself a freestyle playboat and need some advise when it comes to picking the right size for me.
My measurements:
Height with bare feet: 171 cm (5' 8")
Weight without clothes: 71-72 kg (158 lbs)
The kayak models I'm considering:
Dagger Agent 6.2
Dagger Kingpin 6.2
Pyranha Rev M
Wave Sport Project 52
I'm fairly certain that these are the right size for someone like me, but I want to be absolutely certain and listen to more experienced paddlers when it comes to picking the right size. I'm not experienced at all when it comes to playboating. I've tried to pick sizes where I fit in the middle of their weight range (which is what I assume is the best fit).
From what I understand, lately the Dagger kayaks have evolved a more "cheap" feel. Softer plastic, screws and bolts coming loose and easily dented, deformed and cracked. I've also read some bad reviews regarding their inflatable hip pads, but as these reviews say, the hip pads can be replaced by ordinary foam pads.
Regarding the Pyranha Rev, it seems that some people feel that the shape of the hull makes it slower than other freestyle kayaks. Is this a major issue and a big drawback or simply nothing a novice like me would take any notice of without any experience first?
I've yet to read a bad review of the Wave Sport Project. It has been unchanged for years and is by many considered the best freestyle kayak out there. However, it is not as easily obtained from my local dealers. This is why I'm considering Dagger and Pyranha.
Any tips, advise and comments are highly appreciated.
