Hi guys and girls
I’m considering buying my first boat. I have only been on the water a few times, mainly in Sweden and a few days on the White Nile. Because of the lack of white water in Denmark I think that playboating/surfing is the main priority and in that light I’m considering to buy a Wave Sport Project 52. Now I have been given an offer on a WS Fuse 56- we a talking half the normal sale price and it makes me think… Could it be my new boat? Can you guys/girls help me out?

I wish to learn stern squid and more but I am still total rookie, could I learn tricks in a Fuse?
I wonder- I now it doesn’t mean a thing- why the Fuse cost more than a Project?
If I fit into a Fuse 56 would I then fit into a Project 52? The reason I ask is that there isn’t a lot of retailers in Denmark so it’s difficult to try the boats “on” and in action (I have the opportunity to try a Fuse)
The last 4 weekends I have been paddling I have used a Liquid Logic CR 125. It fits me nicely but I feel that the nose is submerging a bit fast- it might be my lack of technique

Me, I’m 184 cm. in height and I weight around 78 kg.
Hope to hear from you.

Mikkel

If you want to learn to cartwheel, try to find the WS EZG 50 or 60.

wavesport.com/ezg-50
wavesport.com/ezg-60

These have flatter ends, and since they have been discontinued, they should be easier to find for less. It seems to be nearly the same side profile, but the Fuse is more rounded. Look into the river play boats if you want to find a boat to learn to cartwheel in, since they are longer, typically with flatter ends. A Pyranha S:7 would also work well. You should be able to find a few Prijons or Eskimos there, and a lot of the older Prijon designs would probably work well, as well as the Prijon Wizard.

Hi CJCC

Thanks for your advice, cartwheel is defiantly something I would like to master and I appreciate the suggested boats. The problem is that in Denmark there aren’t a lot of boat shops and Eskimo and is not sold around Copenhagen. Prijon is on the other hand very popular but only as sea kayaks- we have a lot of shoreline in Denmark. I can find a few Robson and Bliss-stick a LL CR 125 plus some river runners from LL, some creekboats from Pyranha and the Wave Sports Fuse/Project and that’s almost it (Jacksons Star series is sold out).

I’m going to use the kayak from beaches (flat water and waves) and on grade 1-3 rivers in Sweden and maybe in Norway from time to time.

With those options, I would go for the LL CR 125, but what outfitting does it have? If it has the 3-pod style backband with glue-on hip pads and seat pad, it is outdated and you may want to get a model with the new outfitting. The Bliss-Stick Flip-Stick is a slightly older model that may work well, but the RADs might be a bit tougher to learn to cartwheel in, but if you get a RAD, you will be able to learn the newer moves much easier than in a CR. The RAD would also be better at surfing, but if you can, try to get a Fluid Flirt, since on older versions, it came with fin attachment points.

Thanks cjcc

As I wrote the LL fits me nicely, but it will cost me around the double of a Wave Sport Fuse so I just wondered ;) I tried a Riot Air in a indoor pool this Sunday and now I know that it is not going to be a Riot Air!
I have done a little research on the Bliss-Stick (the kayaks looks first-rate) and the only place in Denmark I can buy one is at my local gear pusher- and they are sold-out at the moment. And because of the financial crisis they done take new kayaks home unless they have a sure buyer- and I want to try it “on” first. I have looked on ebay but no luck. About the Fluid Flirt its kind of same story, one retailer, Nicus Nature, and they have no white water kayaks… I guess I will look around a bit maybe the right boat will show- and my wife will stop be on my back (going to have a baby this summer  ).

What are the prices of the other kayaks near you, so we can get a gauge on a good price? Also, see if you can find a Prijon Release. I'm sure that there are plenty of dealers in Germany, but someone who lives in the area would have a better idea than me. There is a Fluid dealer in Germany ( www.canoes.de/ ) and here is Bliss-Stick's European site ( www.bliss-stick.de/ ).

Hej Mikkel,

You can spend days and weeks, or even months on the internet getting opinions, reading reviews o.s.v. without getting somewhere with this. Sooner or later you will have to make a decision. Don´t get me wrong here. B)
If you can get the Fuse for 5500 dkk (jeg går udfra at det er Kajakhotellet vi snakker om) then that's probably the best price for this type of boat you are gonna get. And in this case you can demo the boat.

Den her fandt jeg:

You might be right Kojak.
Youtube was a place to find inspiration that I haven’t thought of, so I will take a look at it.
I narrow it down to WS Fuse, WS ZG and one from the Jackson Star series.
The two WS is almost half the prize compared to Jackson, so that pretty much rules it out.

Cjcc a good prized kayak in Denmark (used) is around 738 euro- you might find them cheaper but I haven’t- and a new LL CR125 will cost you 1074 euro and a new Jackson Allstar around 1208 euro. But right now I can only find 2-3 used cross river/playboats in Denmark other than that I will have to travel to Sweden or Germany.

Hi again,

you can also check out eddyflower.com/ for reviews and comparisons of boats. And for getting in touch with other ww-paddlers in Denmark there is a group on facebook called whitewater.dk

Just out of curiosity; are you just starting or have you done any paddling?

Hello
I will try eddyflower.com later today.
I would call myself a newbee into ww-kayaking, took my girlfriend and I on a 3 days course on the White Nile and have been on Mörrumsåen in Sweden a few weekends after that.

Thanks for the info.

Hello guys.

So I bought myself a kayak. It ended up being a WS Fuse 56 in green- the choice was between WS Fuse, LL CR125 (was found in Germany) and LL Ronin. I expect to do a pool session on Thursday to test it a little. I now just need a footrest foam block but otherwise the fit is superb.
Thanks for your input and help and beware maybe some day you will meet a guy on the river in a green Fuse with now control, upside-down almost ramming into you.. Don’t yell it’s not on purpose (and my head is under the water).
