Canadian Rafting Companys 17 years 3 months ago #19972

Hey,

I will leave Germany at the 7th of may with direction Canada for a one year travel and work experience. Which means I will stay in Canada for one year, spending my time with traveling around and work whereever I want.

As a paddler I would like to work at a Rafting Company as a Safty/Videoboater or Raftguide, helping Hand on the River whatever.

I allready got some informations about Companys at the Ottawa river, but maybe there are some other spots where I can spend my 2008 season. Maybe on the Westcoast (I start my trip on Vancouver Island), or somewhere else.

Hopefully you can provide me with additional informations about the canadian kajak/raftingscene.

Companys that need personal? Shops? Cool people? what ever...

Maybe we can go also paddle a river, I run rivers up to WW4+ safely.

See you in Canada

Just outside of Vancouver in Chilliwack is Chilliwack River Rafting run by Russ. A little farther into the interior is Hyak. I know both of those companies and they seem to be good to work for.

Thanks.

Is a special licence necessary to work as a raftguide or saftykajaker?

Is the law different by province or is there a common solution for all provinces in Canada?

Thank you everybody

When you make it over to the west coast look us up at Western Canoeing and Kayaking, my name is Ryan and live about 45 minutes outside Vancouver. Theres tons of great paddling around here. As for the raft guiding Chilliwack river rafting usualy fills up with lots of really good boaters that run lots of the local stuff and quite a bit of grade five, working there would be a great way to boat lots of diffrent rivers.

Hopfully talk to you later,

Ryan
