I have heard rumours about some surfable waves on the river inn in a remote area near the Swiss/Austrian border. And a spot called \"ghost towns\". Does anyone know anything?

Theres a few waves in thew Schuhs gorge on the Inn but one of the better waves is the Reid Wave in Austria on the Pfunds to Prutz section if I remember rightly:think: This section has many nice waves and the lovely Tossens rapid huge holes to avoid and it slamms into a cliff on the bottom right hand side cente to left preferred way down, lucikly there is a road bridge you can inspect this from.

Down stream after a few more rapids the river flattens out and the river wide wave in Reid (sp) is approached this thing can be a huge green tounge with some foamy pilesand is versy fast, once washed off carry back up river left and go again. Sorry I cant remember any other waves around the boarder.

It could be worth checing out the spots section and/ or speaking to Jeroen as my swiss paddling experience is very minute two trips to austria/ swiss/ deutschland have fun

Hi Chrisd

I've never heared about a spot called ghost town around here, but there's the traktor hole (as the austrian lokals call it) which is the spot described by Urge and which might as well be the same spot you're looking for. There's also huge waves in the Imst-gorge further down the valley. However, on the Imst section there are almost no eddies and the current is quite fast (so hard to catch). On the Swiss section of the Inn there's no bigger wave or playspot around at the moment. But with time this might change (hopefully). We're working on that...
