Wave Sport plastic? 18 years 5 months ago #11114

I recently bought myself another toy. Wave Sport EZG60. What a great boat. I really enjoy this one as well as the other WS boats I have and have had.
I have one thought though. Is the plastic from WS still as good as it used to be? I have had my Necky Blunt from day one and it has seen the most action out of any boat I have had. It has thousands of scratches but almost none compare to this new one on my EZG. The weird thing is, that scratch in the picture hasn't removed any material from the boat as such. Usually some material is removed. It is like an indentation in the plastic, combined with a dent that I'm sure the sun and/or hot water will sort out. It seems to me that the plastic is pretty soft. When I look at my ZG54, some of the scratches are pretty deep. It's like the plastic just gives way to any sharp objects pushed up against it. Not as tough as other boats I have seen. In case you are wondering what caused the scratch, I attempted to boof a pourover which turned out to be very shallow on the lip and it caught and turned the boat. Hence the sideways line. Any thoughts?

 Hi Adrian. I paddled pyranha boats before i bought my fluid flirt. Reason why i left pyranha was because i thought their plastic was to soft. I reasoned that in the UK where they manufacture the boats it is cold and in South Africa the heat might play a role. I bought fluid after testing it and after a trip to the white nile I came to the conclusion that my new boat has a softer plastic than riot, liquid logiq, draggorossi and dagger. I suppose both, the harder and the softer plastic, do have their pros and cons. I have seen a few cracked riots, not nearly that many cracked pyranhas. In your case, paddle your boat for a while longer and if that dent doesn't come right, get in touch with wavesport and let them know. I do not think a whitewater boat is supposed to dent like that.Joe |
