as far as i know there is no gear directly made for seniors. A boat of course is how much would a senior pay. I would look at a boat with a large cockpit if a "plastic" type of boat is wanted then the type in canadian tire might do or something better? from a kayak dealer and don,t write off a two seater they can be paddled by one and you even have more room. Width for the feeling of stability should be 28 inches or more and have no "rocker" so when viewed from the side in the shop the keel is quite flat. Getting in, the boat would be in shallow water with someone steadying it or step in hold the sides and sit down, getting out when a foot goes over the side in shallow water put weight on it quickly otherwise the weight can be split between the boat floating) and the bottom of the lake and a fall backwards can happen I KNOW iv,e done it. Wear a PFD at all times untill you are on dry ground. Another safety aspect could be outriggers. I am no expert and these are my views. I have a page ,easy to find on playak, net. I am in northern ontario
