I just picked up an older model Cyphur (
playak.com/kayaks.php?search=cyphur ). There are two drill holes on each side of the kayak toward the bow, half way between the top and bottom of the kayak. I am assuming the drill holes (1/4" dia) were for footbraces. The holes are spaced approximately 15" apart. Currently, carriage bolts and plastic plugs occupy the holes.
The kayak will be used for playing around in the river at the end of my street, no whitewater.
I want to fill in these holes and am unsure how to proceed; I do not know what the kayak is made out of.
Any recommendations how to fill in these holds is appreciated. My initial thoughts are to use a polyethylene stick (
www.urethanesupply.com/storepolyethylene.php). Or I use the holes to mount eye bolts for tie downs.
Thanks,
Andrew
