Eskimo Diablo or Speedo for beginner ? 16 years 8 months ago #22778

Hello

I am beginner at ww, and this weekend I am going to buy my first kayak. As I and my club are doing most riverrunning and we paddle ww (up to lvl 2) only from time to time, I was thinking of eskimo Diablo3 or Speedo kayak. It's like I do not want to close my doors to WW by chosing wrong kayak, that I hope will last me for years. I already had a chance to try Diablo, but only on lake. The Kayak I used the most on ww rivers was Eskimo (ye, I like that company :P) Topolino, but I won't buy one myself as it is too slow on lakes and lowland rivers (which I still paddle the most).
I weight 60 kg (132 pounds).

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Regards
Lkwasny

Try asking on polish usenet group pl.rec.kajaki. kajak.org.pl/forum/pl.rec.kajaki/
There are a lot of people paddling Eskimo Diablo. In my opinion second generation was the best.

thank you for all your answers, all in all I have bought diablo (after trying speedo, kendo and xeno ;)). As you wrote mrcg123, it is extremely easy to roll (my very first c to c roll on first try, yay). Also I find it very comfortable and secure (compared to topolino and prijon wizzard), turning is good also.
If I would only paddle ww I would chose smth different, but for my needs it will be perfect :)

have you considered a LL Remix XP9? here is a link to shane benedict's blog talking about it: shanesliquidlogic.blogspot.com/2008/08/r...ur-normal-kayak.html . Even a boat like the Prijon Tornado, Prijon Cyclone, or the Dagger Green Boat would be a great choice if you want speed and are only doing whitewater from time to time.

I was taking only eskimo boats under consideration because I could get them for very good price price (in most known kayak store in Poland they cost about 890 euro with tight braces, and I get it for 523 euro)
