Hey all.

World Kayak has been launched to increase paddler numbers across the globe. Our beta program began last September and involved the development of a network of 'ambassadors' in 45 regions across the globe. Our ambassadors are tasked with helping us bring programs into paddling regions... the goal... bring community activity to new heights and bring an increasing amount of attention to our sport by being more and more active.

In 2008 we introduced communications programs, educational programs and events. Our communications programs included a portal that separates out paddling regions. When a non-paddler wants a way to get into kayaking, they go to www.worldkayak.com, click on a region and they will see news, events, river descriptions and where to start etc... one click. Regional newsletters are sent out with regional news, events etc. delivered to keep all paddlers and potential paddlers in touch. tools are created with this content for kayak schools and clubs to use. We need ambassadors from European and Asian regions to help us set up and manage regional pages for their regions.

In 2008 we had 15 regions host World Kayak Hometown Throwdowns... free events, with tons of prizes (250K$ of prizes donated for these events this year) and simple formatting. We modeled the events after a successful Maryland Chute out series that had been going on for years. Points for front surf, points for paddle moves and much more. The prizes are not rewarded for points, but were raffled off ... this encourages the recreational boater to come out in droves, try new moves, compete in a friendly manner vs their friends and have a blast. We took the river back from the pros and made rodeo fun for all! 15 ambassadors took our "Throwdown in a Box" and held 4 to 5 events in each region... 63 events total... over 4000 participants across Canada, US and S. America. Works great and in 2009 we'd like to run similar programs in other continents... but we need ambassadors.

An ambassador is that guy/gal who likes to get involved in the community. They plan the road trips, reserve the pool sessions, get friends motivated... you all know that person! We would LOVE to speak with you or that person you know who fits this profile. Doesn't matter age, boat type or model, level as a paddler ... just matters that you would like to be the caretaker of WW in your region.

Call us or email us! Skype is james.mcbeath, email is james @ worldkayak.com (take out spaces).

We'd like to hear from you...

Happy paddling all!

Pollo (james)
