Small Fluid Solo? B)

www.fluidkayaks.co.za/Whitewater_S-Solo.htm

At your weight, this boat would rock. If you can, demo one. I think you may like the feel of it, and also the safety features it has.. Try out as many boats as you can though! :woohoo:

I stand under correction, but I think this shop might have:

www.fossenkajakk.com/

Otherwise the guy will know where you can try one out. Speak to Ferry, he will help you out for sure! B)

That would be great since ferry is in the same whitewater club and lives near by. Do you know if Ferry has imported Fluid for a long time?

But how is the solo compared to other creekboats? The small solo is shorter than other creek boats (would a medium solo fit me aswell? Or will it be to big for me?)

And thanks again for answering my questions adrian..

Like I said, I don't even know if he imports them.. :) But he told me the other day that he had tried out a Solo - and now my memory is a little rusty.

I can't really comment on that. Different people will like different characteristics in a boat. You'll need to paddle one and see if it suits your style. Those who paddle them, love them. From a physical construction stand point, they are bomber. Read my review on the large here:

adrian.playak.com/index.php?option=com_c...=view&id=46&Itemid=5

The plastic pillars add stiffness and strength to the hull, as does the rib like stiffner up front, which also doubles as a step out point in case of a vertical pin. Some people say the Solo is heavy, so which creek boat is light? When measured on a digital scale against another leading creek boat, the Solo was in fact a fraction lighter.. :) They are all much of a muchness in terms of weight. A creek boat needs to be strong to keep your safe, should something go wrong. I wouldn't want to creek in a thin, super light boat.

The site says the medium would work in the range of 55 - 115kg. The medium is closer to the large size though. The small is short for sure. Considering the type of water in Norway, a medium might not be a bad idea. A Tasmanian dude I know now paddles a medium Solo in Norway and he is loving it. He must be about your height, but possibly a bit heavier. Demo, demo, demo. B)

Have you looked at the Dagger Nomad 8.1? it was the fastest short boat in the Green River Narrows race, and the Nomad 8.5 was used for the descent of a 120 ft waterfall: playak.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&f...w&catid=105&id=22194 . I have not seen any bad reviews for it. Also, a Jackson Punk Rocker might be a great fit. It is the same weight range as the Jefe Chico, but it has the Sweet Cheeks seat. www.jacksonkayak.com/kayaks/product.cfm?product=rockerseries . Even a LL Remix 59 might work for you.

You should also look into a Bliss-Stick Mini Mystic.
