Pyranha Acro 275 - maybe old skool but revolutionary in its day and still being produced (maybe slightly modified from the original?) - see:

that's funny. see that '.../osb/...' in the url? does that stand for Old School Boat? :D

btw interesting that you're asking, alex. since you were the person that added both acrobats to the playak boats database:
playak.com/kayaks.php?id2=923&id=924

:D

We had a prototype Acro 275 on the Manby/Coruh in 1994 and everyone was fighting to have a go in it. However, nobody could outclass Allan Ellard who was wearing so much metal in those days that he just had to nod his head and he would cartwheel. Well that was our explanation anyway. Nobody could compete so we left him to it.

I think you guys are right it is definitely an Acrobat as for which on I’m not so sure from the pic. Pyranha did an Acro 300 which was the original one then it was modified to produce the Acro 270 and then they made a slightly larger one the Acro 275. The 270 was the real classic of the 3.
The numbers referred to the length of the boat so simply by measuring it you should be able to work out which one you have there. I reckon from the graphics and the pointy bow you have a 300 there. A pic from the side showing the degree of rocker would help me sort it out for you as well as the 300 had quite a lot more rocker than the 270.
As you can tell I was a real fan of the boat in particular the 270 which was a ground breaking design.

(what a geek I must be) :scared:

si - I rest corrected - that is indeed more like an Acro 300 - you can tell from the (more pointed and upturned) bow shape. Geek II

Laddie....

I think you are right the original was simply called the Acro Bat although I think possible there was no difference (other than outfitting) between that and the 300. They possibly added the 300 bit when they realised there was going to be more than one version in the family.

Not sure if I’ve been out geeked her or not??

Here is a very early Acro being driven (in horizontal and vertical modes) by Allan Ellard on the Coruh in 1994 - not sure if it was called a Bat or a 300!
