Flying to Uganda-Emirates 17 years 5 months ago #19493

Hi,
In a few weeks my friends and me are flying to Entebbe (Vienna-Dubai Entebbe) with kayaks. We ll be flying with Emirates.
Just wanted to ask if anybody has any experience with this company. Especially if they accept kayaks without problems etc... (Our local travle agent told me we can check in kayaks shorter than 2m without any special request)

Thanks a bunch for any response and yee you at the world cup 2008 in Prague!!

Jan

Hi Jan,

There were some guys at the Zambezi who flew with Emirates (from Europe) and they had no problems. They had to pay per kg overweight but it wasn't too expensive. It was either the 3 Austrians or the 2 German dudes. I can't remeber. It could have been the Austrians as I remember them saying they were going via Dubai, not that it matters. But they said it was good to go! Have fun and take it easy.

Cheers,
Adrian

Just back from Nepal - some of our group flew with Emirates (Manchester-Dubai-Delhi-KTM). They did not pay for the kayaks BUT the boats missed the connection in Dubai both on the way out AND way back!

We have a 8 hour stop in Dubai so there is plenty of time for them buggers to get our stuff to the next plane.
What I am a bit afraid of is that our local travel agency we bought the tickets from wrote me an email with lots of bollocks like that there is not enough place for bulky items on our plain or whatnot...
Another fact is that there are five kayaks in our group...:|

Don't stress about what the travel agency says. Concern yourself only with the person at the check in counter. That is what will make or break your trip. Smile, be friendly and remember you are the customer..

Read what I wrote in blue about my experience with flying with a boat. (a large creek boat in fact):

Good luck and have fun!
