Kayak Angler Spawns Second Issue 17 years 7 months ago #18473

Hey Everybody,

We have been a lot of inquires about Kayak Angler for 2008 and below is a press release outlining next year for Kayak Angler. The just of it is that there will be two issues next year and that you can subscribe to it now at www.rapidmedia.com Enjoy.

Palmer Rapids, ON, October 3, 2007 – After the successful launch of Kayak Angler magazine this spring, Scott MacGregor of Rapid Media announced last week that he will be publishing two issues of Kayak Angler magazine for the 2008 kayak fishing season. The Spring and Summer issues will be available in February and June at Kayak Angler’s retail network of 660 paddling and fishing shops, on newsstands and now by subscription.

Rapid Media released Kayak Angler only five months ago as an annual magazine to test this wild new market of sport enthusiasts. Kayak fishing has become so popular and the first issue sold out so quickly that according to MacGregor and editor Tim Shuff it was obvious that it needed at least two magazines per year. “When retail shops requested additional boxes of 100 copies and we started receiving piles of subscription checks we knew we were onto something,” says MacGregor. “And it was an editor’s nightmare trying to include all the fishing kayaks, gear, profiles, news and events in just one issue.”

The two issues of Kayak Angler will feature the Fishing Kayak Buyer's Guide and Kayak Fishing Gear Guide—the world's number-one resources for kayak fishing. They will also profile the best outfitters, guides, pros and everyday angling Joes and take readers to the hottest fresh- and saltwater kayak fishing destinations. Inside you'll also find hot tips for electronics, rigging and paddling; and the Buzzbait section will be full of tournament news, trends and the year's biggest fish stories.

Kayak Angler is the first national kayak fishing magazine and boasts a huge circulation of 75,000 copies per issue, which MacGregor feels reflects the monster size of this market. “If one percent of the 126 million fishermen and kayakers gets into kayak fishing that’s more than one million kayaks and readers,” estimates MacGregor. “Tim and I are working together on editorial so that Kayak Angler inspires these new fishermen and paddlers, and feeds the enthusiasts who are already hooked.”

In addition, MacGregor recently announced that the Reel Paddling Film Festival will feature a kayak fishing film contest category. Adding a kayak fishing category to the film festival will put kayak fishing in front of another 20,000 paddling enthusiasts in 100 cities. The magazine, film festival and upcoming KayakAnglerOnline.com will feed one another and ultimately grow the sport.

Rapid Media has been the leader in paddlesports media and events since 1999. Rapid Media publishes Rapid, Adventure Kayak, Canoeroots, Family Camping, and Kayak Angler magazines, and produces a series of on-water paddling events and the Reel Paddling Film Festival.
