*LOL* I never tried that with paying taxes though ;)

But you're right, most injuries need rest before you can actually work on different techniques etc. to prevent those injuries from happening again.

Basically, if it hurts, stop. It may look like you're a tough cookie to keep on going but unless there's a life involved, getting rest and work on a cure allows you to enjoy paddling a lot longer

Hello again! I started this thread almost 3 years ago and although I haven't re-read what I wrote, I think I have found the cause and so have decided to quickly update on the issue which kind of came back into play every now and then.

For a while afterwards I stopped drinking Coke Light (Diet Coke - depending what country you live in) and the pain went away. At one stage during this year I was drinking up 8 litres in a weekend!!!! WAY too much of course. I cannot drink sugar so have to go the 'light' way. During that time my stomach felt bad and my elbows (and other joints) began to pain. I stopped drinking it and felt better after about 3 or 4 weeks, maybe more. I kept exercising and paddling it's been fine. Then I had more of the stuff and again the pain came back recently. After an hour in the waves my elbows would start to hurt, real bad.

My personal opinion, that sweetener inside called aspartame, is what's causing it. I'm quite sure of it. Yes I'm not a doctor and have never conducted any proper experiments, nor will I ever, but that's my 2 cents. That stuff is bad news for your body. I don't expect anyone to agree with me, so take it or leave it. As long as I don't drink that stuff, my stomach feels good, and my joints are strong as an ox. I'm totally not drinking it now and feeling awesome!

(Drink more beer, rum, whisky and brandy)

Cheers,
Adrian

Google aspartame and joint pain. Interesting stuff. I believe you--glad you found the cause. Nasty stuff.
