Already the world is turning green. I had my first trip of the year in a week a
go when the trees were still brown, but the aspans are now bursting with coulor. I love it when they burst out with the bright lime-green coulor they sport for the first few weeks of spring. I know this coulor will fade to a dull green later in the year, so this is to be enjoyed for what it is right now. The same goes with the migratory birds that are filling our countryside right now. The gulls may be in Yellowknife, but the common goldeneye, the scaup duck, shovellers, and mallards are still in attendence. Of course not all new arrivals will leave. The male red=winged blackbirds have been staking out their territory and calling to attract the females, andyesterday I saw a female checking out nesting sites. Some mallards, and a few other ducks will be here all summer, but the numbers we have now are sure to diminish. I guess the country nort of us needs a few to. Oh well, its nice to have them here for now. I had better get out paddling so I can enjoy them.
