This is my first blog, so please bear with me.

After i'd completed a few days tramping in the Mount Aspiring park i met up with Danny and Steve for a few days paddling around Queenstown.

Above is the veiw from the hut, Mount Aspiring is out there somewhere.

First up was the Shotover river, this involves a rather interesting trip along Skippers Pass.

This Skippers Pass, it runs along that line of green bushes. And that's a cliff face!!!!

The upper Shotover is a great play run in a lovely gorge.

Here's Steve on one of the many play features

The boys around the campfire.

Then the next day it was the lower section, which is a bit more of a river run with some grade 4 rapids. And a very interesting tunnel followed by the cascade at the end.

In an eddy deep in the lower section gorge.

The following two days were spent on the Kawarau river. Fristly we did the Roaring Meg and Dog Leg sections, both higher volume fun runs with lots of big waves and whirlpools.

Then the big hit, the Citroen rapid. Which is a very pushy grade 4.

The boys below the rapid.

Steve in the midway eddy. This was just before the three of us exited and ALL come out of our boats!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway back up to Christchurch and work. Then a weekend up the Hurunui for the Wild Rivers day.

Sounds like a great trip . Always one of my favourite places to visit New Zealand I spend almost two years there in the 80s and still would love to return. I wasn't a paddler them just a tramper so I need to return and check out the river end of things. Cheers, Greg
