Summer in Yelllowknife didn't really arrive until July ans it seemd it has decided to disappear around now. You can see the leaves are starting to turn and fall and there is that chill in the night air. I was testing the lake water the other day and it seems to be losing the little bit of warmth that it had collected over our summer.
World River day is September 27th; this year a day earlier than last. Last year we had about 35 people show up which considering how chilly it was I was suprized with the turn out. I contacted the organizer of World River day and told them that the end of September is a bit late for one third of Canada considering where we live. However it is stilll warm in British Columbia where it started and so we must brave cooler temperatures than the others.
The lake here is very nice and usually we get a much warmer and longer summer otherwise I would seriously consider moving. Just haven't found a spot I like as much as here so far. Cheers, one and all, Greg

GREG, yes we can count our weeks of "summer" on one hand, heard rumors for a warm January, expect that means only minus 30 instead of minus 35 on the "warm"days. There are worse places to live.John
