klepper stopping making their classic kayak

From a report it seems that klepper, the folding kayak company will cease production of their single seat and two seat classic kayaks in Germany. They may try to have them made in a country with lower manufacturing costs. Klepper kayaks have been around since 1907 and in 1956 Dr Hanns Lindman crossed the Atlantic ocean unassited or sponsored in a stock Aerius two kayak which he bought himself and made a few minor changes. He did have sail assist and a home made outrigger, it took him 72 days. The kayak he used was untill fairly recently available as the Aerius 520 which had the addition of deck lines, the 520 was replaced by the 545. ( 520 and 545 is the length of the kayaks in centemetres.)
