I wouild say sea kayak as it gives the options of longer trips and eventual coastal trips as well. GO big

Just the spot for you at the moment. These folks well help you along no worries. Be warned however I stared with a sea kayak and now have 4, a squirt boat a folding tandem kayak, 2 glass playboats (very old ones), a creek boat, two canoes and a inflatable canoe.

I want to Kayak both sea and lakes... I actually have a lake very close to where I live.....Can Anyone suggest what kind of Kayak to purchase. Would like to make an informed purchase... opinions are welcome!

Georgia, welcome to the group, by now you have seen that it appears to be mainly white water and going down waterfalls orinated but there are a few of us who paddle lakes, rivers, sail,and use folders, mostly Kleppers and touring "hardshells" If you see my photo page you will see i have a variety of boats and info to share but i am no expert.
