Whitewater Kayaking – How to Get Started, Choosing a Boat

Or maybe you want to get into a surf kayak and rip up the wave in a carving machine or bust some aerial moves at a river wave or hole. Whatever you want to ultimately do, starting off on the right foot is extremely important. Getting the right boat, paddle, advice, training etc. is all very important in making the learning curve as gentle as possible, b… Continue

DIY - Replacing Latex Gaskets

You’ve just put your hand through the gasket and as you’re about to climb onto another cold river you realise that latex seal is torn. The top is ruined and you’re about to toss it away when you remember that it can easily be fixed! All is not last, except for a guaranteed freezing cold day on the river...

[Warning: All advice offered in this article is to be used at your own risk. If in doubt, take the dry top/dry pants/dry suit to a professional, a friend, a scuba diving shop that deals with… Continue

hey Adrian my mate just bought a new nemesis and took out for the first time. we were raft guides though so playing wasn't the priority. going to take them out down our little grade 3 local run this weekend were we can test it out on some nice little waves. I also learnt a big lesson about not having your throw bag around your weist. i rolled over and got it caught on a submerged log which held me under not allowing me to roll up. luckily when i pulled my deck i could get it off. phew!

Just read the Hang-over paddle tale Zambezi stlye and its worth going over a few times. I was there in 1992 and was not a paddler at the time, but it is indeed a favoured spot the falls are amazing. I camped in a campground on the Zambia side very near the falls for a bout 3 days before crossing to Zimbabwe. Love to come back and look around some more. Cheers Greg

Thanks the weekend was a blast! & I'm glad the Sabie Fest was good. I need more details. Was it arranged like a trip (Blyde fest) or an event (Thrombi) with other things happening? Who went? Who got the prizes? gimme me the 411.
Re. the King Fisher. Man, I'm there like a bear. Book my room (the one with the bathroom en suite). Lekkker. I'm looking forward to Thrombi.
