Yelllowknife a fine starting point for your Great Slave journeys(and beyond)

Yellowknife is the perfect spot to start a trip on the lake. Historically many famous Arctic Explorations used the Lake as a staring point. From Yellowknife if you paddle hard enough you can reach three oceans. This invovles some long trips but they have been done before with gear no where near as the stuff we have now.
Come on up and play much worse ways to spend your vacation you can be sure of that. Cheers Greg

Spend part of my afternoon doing rolls on the bay. Great fun but hard on my ears. I have some sinus trouble caused by meds that I take for the transplant and this seems to effect my ears when I submerge my head. Think that I will try ear plugs and see if this helps.

Hope that you folks are taking advantage of the info and stuff available at www.paddling.net. The draw for a kayak or canoe package is running again and is on until September I think. Check out the site more commerial than here but some very informative articles.

Getting far to many thunderstorms lately makes for terrible paddling weather. Hope tha we get back to the type of summer that caused me to move here 35 years ago, Hot and sunny long days and hardly any rain. Still thunderstorms are better than frozen water and -40C so I'lll stop complaining and enjoy whatever summer that we get. Cheers folks, Greg

Just got in from a great little stroll paddlewise around Latham Island and Yellowknife Bay or around theHorn as I like to call it. Yesterday was National Canoe day and I spent a little time Paddling the "Blue Canoe" and crossed wakes with the Somba K'e members that were tourning the houseboats. A very nice night for a paddle a good 20 inot breeze was blown and it was fun. However I don't fit well in a canoe these days and am only good for a short burst of canoe paddling, half an hour to an hour is enough and I need to find a shore somewhere, to get out a walk around a little. The "Blue canoe was pleased that we took her out and was showing her stuff just fine. Cheers, Greg

Hello members and friends
Just back from two hours of kayaksailing on Yellowknife and back bay. Great day for it but the winds could have been better. The speed was all right but unfortunately the direction could have been better. I did however get some nice runs with good paddling in between.
