Yelllowknife a fine starting point for your Great Slave journeys(and beyond)

Yellowknife is the perfect spot to start a trip on the lake. Historically many famous Arctic Explorations used the Lake as a starting point. From Yellowknife if you paddle hard enough you can reach three oceans. This involves some long trips, but they have been done before with gear no where near as nice as the stuff we have now.
Come on up and play much worse ways to spend your vacation you can be sure of that. Cheers, Greg

Paddling season is in full swing here in Yellowknife finally. It was a long cold winter. On a brighter note "Happy Summer Solstice." Unfortunately the days will start getting shorter, but we really won't notice it for weeks yet. Cheers everyone, Go get wet. Greg

I attended Cathy s first roll clinic onn Saturday evening and helped with the students. Hoped to get the squirt into the water but was to busy. I brought the squirt home and willn paddle the lake with it today. Titus was impressed with the squirt and fit in it which surprised me. Of course on of the hip blocks was out which gave him some wiggle room.

Hit the lake on the18th of May at midnight and paddled around the shore from the woodyard to the ice road enterance. Very nice tried out by new PFD and I am glad I bought it. The ice packis candling and we need just a week of the warm stuff and we are in the paddling business.

There is some open water on Yellowknife Bay between Mainland and the ice. However the ice is still thick and most of the lake is a solid block. Looks like a late spring again this year. This can be hard on out of town folks taht have booked at one of the lodges on the lake that would usually be open fairly quickly. They icefish instead of troll and that must suck. Imagine the fishing trip of a lifetime blocked by some lousy cool weather. Things here change fast but they are predicting continuing cold until the end of the m,onth. Lets hope that the weatherfolks are wrong as usaual and the Ra will return bring warmth to the Land.
